In October, MiSmile Media attended BrightonSEO 2025, one of the biggest search marketing conferences in the world. I was especially interested in exploring how the latest trends in SEO can help dental practices attract new patients online.

A common thread at BrightonSEO: Trust

A recurring theme among this year’s BrightonSEO speakers was trust and how it’s reshaping SEO. Trust is becoming the foundation of every successful dental SEO strategy. Simon Wiley, for example, said in his talk that trust is the new SEO currency.

And for dental practices, being trusted is very important. That’s what ultimately attracts new patients.

The reality is that it’s no longer just about ranking first on Google, because ranking alone doesn’t guarantee traffic anymore. It’s about building a trusted brand that gets mentioned and is cited across Google and AI platforms.

As Yordan Dimitrov pointed out, “a consistent brand presence in search results builds familiarity and trust over time.” And that trust leads to more traffic, clicks, calls and conversions.

Brand for people, structure for machines

Dental practices that win online are those that communicate like people while also ensuring their websites are well-structured and optimised for search engines. At MiSmile Media we specialise in SEO for the dental industry and we know how to help dental practices implement a strong dental SEO strategy that works.

But it’s not just about ranking. It’s about being part of conversations where patients are asking questions like “best cosmetic dentist near me” or “how much does Invisalign cost”, and your practice is part of the answer.

Tamara Novitović was clear: Be the answer. Be cited. Be trusted. Brand is the new (not official) ranking factor.

Jon Earnshaw also highlighted the importance of staying throughout the entire conversation to conversion, and not just at the beginning. The goal is to build your presence across every digital conversation and not just to appear, but remain visible.

Search has evolved: visibility alone isn’t enough

Search is changing every day but if BrightonSEO proved one thing, it’s that SEO is here to stay. Gone are the days when ranking number one for a few keywords guaranteed new patients. Visibility alone won’t fill your appointment book. As Inyene Udom highlighted, “Traffic builds awareness, but trust and clarity drive conversions.”

How people search for and consume information has evolved and it will continue to do so.

  • Search engines now keep users on the results pages
  • AI overviews provide direct answers
  • People don’t always click through to websites anymore; they want the right answer, right there, right now.

Search will continue to evolve but the foundations of trust, clarity, and consistency will always matter for any effective dental marketing strategy.

The future of dental SEO

BrightonSEO 2025 raised many questions about the future of search, but one thing is clear: search isn’t what it was yesterday, and it won’t be the same tomorrow.

SEO today is about building trust, credibility, and a consistent brand presence.

For dental practices, this is the opportunity to adapt and create a trusted online presence that resonates with patients, and not just algorithms.
