How dental practices are winning on social media
Last month we challenged dental practices all across the UK to show up consistently on social media. The goal? To inspire more creativity, build confidence, and remind the dental industry that when it comes to content, done is better than perfect.
What we got back was more than we expected at MiSmile Media.
Over the course of the month, more than 120 posts were shared as part of our Content Challenge. From creative reels and lip syncs to behind-the-scenes snapshots and patient spotlights, dental practices brought their A-game. And more importantly, they had fun with it.
This wasn’t about going viral. It was about building momentum, showcasing personality, and proving that with the right support, any dental practice can build a brand that patients connect with.
Why social media matters in dental marketing
We know that dental social media can often feel like an afterthought. But what we saw in this challenge reinforced what we believe at MiSmile Media: content consistency builds trust. And trust builds patient interest.
A well-run Instagram or TikTok isn’t just about trends – it’s about building brand familiarity, educating potential patients, and giving people a reason to choose you.
Whether you’re a squat practice just starting out or an established clinic looking to refresh your presence, social media plays a key role in any effective dental digital marketing strategy.
How to win on social media
- Confidence grows with consistency. Practices who committed to regular posting quickly saw their content quality improve. The more they posted, the more natural it became and the more they started experimenting with new formats and ideas.
- People connect with people. The most engaging posts weren’t necessarily the most polished. It was the ones where the team was involved, smiling, and clearly enjoying the process. That human element is what patients connect with most.
- Personality > Perfection. Audiences responded best to content that felt genuine and relatable. Polished doesn’t always mean better – showing your real team, your real vibe, and your real values is what builds trust.
- Ideas don’t need to be complicated. Some of the best posts were simple concepts done well – a quick before-and-after, a fun trend adapted to dentistry, or a short intro to a team member. You don’t need a big production to make a big impression.
- Content brings the team together. Several practices told us how the challenge brought a new energy into the practice. Getting the team involved in content isn’t just good for marketing – it boosts morale, culture, and collaboration.
Our content challenge winner!
Choosing just one winner wasn’t easy but one post really stood out for its creativity, humour, and originality.
Congratulations to Sunningdale Dental Practice for their brilliant “Pose As The Instrument: Dentistry Edition” video. It captured everything we love about content done well – it was simple but effective and full of team personality.
They’ll be receiving a free content shoot with our team and we’re excited to work with them to create even more standout content soon.
